A day after the Karnataka Cabinet approved ₹17,780 for a 16.75 km tunnel project from Hebbal to Silk Board in Bengaluru, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who also holds the Bengaluru Development portfolio, met Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Bengaluru and discussed the ongoing infrastructure projects in the city.

A few days ago, Mr. Shivakumar called on Mr. Khattar in New Delhi a few days ago and sought funds from the Centre for implementing infrastructure projects in Bengaluru for easing traffic congestion.

He also discussed the ongoing Namma Metro project undertaken by the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited. The Cabinet on Thursday cleared a revised plan expenditure proposal of ₹40,425.02 crore for the second phase of the Namma Metro project of the BMRCL.

The cost of the second phase increased by ₹14,019.88 crore, from ₹26,405 crore to ₹40,425.02 crore, for taking up metro line work from 72.9 km to 75.06 km.

BBMP Commissioner M. Maheshwara Rao, BMRDA Commissioner Rajendra Cholan and other officials were present.

Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan met Mr. Khattar and discussed the housing projects taken up by the State government in the city and sought funds from the Centre, sources said.
