The stage is set for a thrilling showdown this Saturday as underdogs Arminia Bielefeld take on Bundesliga stalwarts VfB Stuttgart in the final of the DFB-Pokal Cup.
Arminia Bielefeld will come into the match as champions of the 3. Liga, the third tier of German football. Stuttgart, meanwhile, finished ninth in the Bundesliga – the top flight of the domestic game. On paper, the gulf in class is significant, but this is the cup, where upsets are always possible.

Arminia Bielefeld vs Stuttgart predictions
The magnificent Olympiastadion in Berlin will play host to the 82nd edition of the DFB-Pokal Cup on Saturday night. Competing for the trophy will be giant-killers Arminia Bielefeld and Bundesliga Stuttgart.
Starting with a look at the underdogs, Arminia Bielefeld are enjoying a dream season in 2024-25. Under the guidance of head coach Michél Kniat, the Blues have not only made it to the final of the DFB Cup, but also won the 3. Liga championship – meaning they will be playing in the second tier of German football next season.
On their way to Berlin, Arminia dispatched some of the biggest names in German football. Starting with a win over Hannover 96, they went on to eliminate four Bundesliga sides: Union Berlin, SC Freiburg, Werder Bremen, and holders Bayer Leverkusen.
The semi-final win over Leverkusen was one of the most stunning upsets in German football history. Leverkusen took an early lead through Jonathan Tah in the 17th minute. Arminia responded quickly, with Marius Wörl equalizing just three minutes later. The decisive moment came in first-half stoppage time, as Maximilian Großer volleyed home from a set-piece to book Bielefeld’s place in the final.
VfB Stuttgart have experienced a solid if unspectacular season under head coach Sebastian Hoeneß. An inconsistent season that saw Die Roten lose 12 times in the Bundesliga finished on a high, with the team winning their final three matches to secure a ninth-place finish in the Bundesliga.
Stuttgart’s journey to the DFB-Pokal final has been marked by more consistent performances.
They began their run with a commanding 5-0 away victory over Preußen Münster. This was followed by wins against Kaiserslautern (2-1), Jahn Regensburg (3-0) and Augsburg (1-0). In the semi-finals, Stuttgart delivered a standout performance, defeating RB Leipzig 3-1 to secure their place in the final.
This marks their first appearance in the DFB-Pokal final since 2013.

Arminia Bielefeld vs Stuttgart betting tips
Can Arminia Bielefeld’s fairytale cup run continue? The German third-tier champions are 3/1 to lift the trophy for the first time in their history. Sebastian Hoeneß’s Stuttgart are just 2/9 to win the DFB-Pokal Cup for the fourth time. Our match betting tips follow:
Stuttgart to win and BTTS
Sebastian Hoeneß has a good cup record with Stuttgart. The 43-year-old head coach has overseen nine wins in 11 cup games at the club. The losses came against Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2022/23 semi-finals and Leverkusen in the 2023/24 quarters.
Arminia Bielefeld are currently on an unbeaten run of 13 matches in all competitions. They have also only lost once since mid-February.
We can see the lower league club making a match of this. They have already beaten four top-flight clubs en route to Berlin, why not a fifth. With a record like that, it’s difficult to see the underdogs taking a backwards step.
We still have to go for the Bundesliga team to come through, but we are backing Stuttgart to win with both teams finding the back of the net.
⚽ Back Stuttgart to win and yes in both teams to score at 9/5 with SBK ⚽
Marius Wörl to score anytime
If Arminia’s fairytale run is to continue, there is a good chance Marius Wörl will play a part.
The 21-year-old German has scored six goals and provided two assists in his 37 league appearances this season. Not prolific, but a good return from a midfielder.
In the cup, Wörl has played a pivotal role in getting his club to the final and the brink of European competition. He is his team’s leading scorer in the competition with three goals, putting him ahead of club top scorer Julian Kania.
In a competition that has already provided some of the biggest shocks in recent German football history, it would be fitting for Wörl to add to his tally in the final.

Nick Woltemade to score anytime
Along with Leverkusen’s Patrik Schick and Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško, Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade is the joint-top scorer in this season’s DFB-Pokal competition with four goals.
The 28-year-old has also been in good form in the Bundesliga, netting 12 times in 28 matches, including three in his last three matches.
Woltemade has found the net in all four of his DFB-Pokal matches. He missed the quarter-final win over Augsburg, but apart from that, has scored in every round.
In his current form, he looks a solid bet to make it five in five.
