An 72-year-old man is suspected to have died of COVID-related complications in Belagavi.
The patient is from Benakanahalli village. He was taken to a private hospital after he complained of flu-like symptoms four days ago. The doctors referred him to Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences. Doctors shifted him to the COVID ward on May 26. He died in the early hours of May 29.
His relatives were present when the body was cremated as per COVID norms, health department officials said.
He was the second COVID positive patient in the district.
The first detected case, a young pregnant woman, is recovering in a private hospital, according to I. P. Gadad, district health and family welfare officer.
