Police seize 350 kg gutkha at Walajah toll gate; two held

Two persons were arrested at a toll gate in Walajah town near Ranipet on Chennai – Bengaluru Highway for possessing 350 kg gutkha.

Two persons were arrested at a toll gate in Walajah town near Ranipet on Chennai – Bengaluru Highway (NH-44) for possessing of 350 kg gutkha on Thursday. Police said the arrested persons were identified as Harbaj Singh, 43, and his accomplice S. Bhimraj, 28. Both are residents of Rajasthan.

Based on specific inputs, a police team that was checking vehicles at the toll gate intercepted the SUV the duo was travelling in and seized the banned product.

A case was registered by Walajah police. The two were arrested and lodged in the sub-jail in Walajah town.
