But he has confirmed that he will be on the podium for seven hours of football every Sunday, although the ‘commercial-free’ plug was dropped late in 2024.

He wrote on X: “100 days from now = NFL RedZone. (& for those wondering: Yes, I *will* be there. We have A LOT of Touchdowns to watch together!).”

Fans were delighted to have Hanson back on their screens but expressed concern over the potential addition of ads to NFL Network’s innovative product.

“Yes let’s go voice of god,” replied one on X.

“The NFL season doesn’t officially begin until we’re blessed with an OctoBox,” added another in reference to the famous sight of eight games sharing one screen.

“Let’s go ad free though! Nothing says redzone like breaking away for a car commercial,” a third noted.

“Nice. Now, perhaps within these 100 days we can get an update on what is happening with commercials,” pleaded a fourth.

Hanson’s football career began as a walk-on for the Syracuse Orange football team, where he played four seasons on the scout team as a long snapper, wide receiver and defensive back on the scout team.

He played with future Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison and was named Scout Team Player of the Year in 1992.

During his time in college, the future TV star worked as a summer intern at WXYZ-TV before working his way through the ranks and finally making his way to NFL Network in 2006.

In 2009, he welcomed fans into the brand-new concept of RedZone, which has been a jewel in the NFL’s crown ever since.

Hanson’s contract was up at the end of the 2024 season and he was announced as the host of NBC’s GoldZone for the 2026 Winter Olympics after the new format’s success at Paris 2024.

That raised fears among fans that he would be leaving NFL Network but after months of delays, it appears a deal has been struck.
