Intensifying her political activity after making her ‘discontent’ against a few key leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) clear, party MLC and president of Telangana Jagruthi K. Kavitha announced a protest (deeksha) on June 4, against a notice to former Chief Minister and her father K. Chandrasekhar Rao by the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) on the Kaleshwaram project row.
She inaugurated the new office of Telangana Jagruthi near her residence at Nandi Nagar, Banjara Hills (shifted from Ashok Nagar) on Saturday. “KCR had ruled Telangana for over nine years keeping the interests of the State in mind and it is unfortunate that a person (A. Revanth Reddy), who had never said ‘Jai Telangana’ (slogan hailing Telangana) in his life has become the Chief Minister,” she said.
She sought to know whether notices were issued to KCR for irrigating lakhs of acres with Kaleshwaram water or for introducing innovative schemes such as Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima.
The protest on June 4 would be held at Indira Park. Interestingly, BRS has not planned any such protest so far.
Stating that a person who had never paid tributes to martyrs, had no moral right to be the Chief Minister of Telangana, she demanded that the government rename the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam scheme in the name of either Srikant Chary or Kaloji Narayana Rao or P.V. Narasimha Rao, since Rajiv Gandhi had no connection with Telangana.
What’s CM’s stand on Banakacherla
On the plans of Andhra Pradesh to divert Godavari water to Krishna and Penna basins in the name of Polavaram-Banakacherla Link Project, undermining the riparian rights of Telangana, she alleged that Mr. Revanth Reddy had not spoken a word about it so far since he was indebted politically to AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Seeking to know why Mr. Revanth Reddy had gone so voiceless on the issues when neighbouring AP was using all its might to harm the rights of Telangana, Ms. Kavitha expressed doubts whether he was working for the interests of AP.
The Centre had proposed Godavari-Cauvery interlinking from Inchampalli to deny the rightful share to Telangana against the proposal of then Chief Minister KCR to take it from Thupakulagudem, that too after meeting the present and future needs of Telangana.
She demanded that Mr. Revanth Reddy make a clear statement on the issue on June 2 (Telangana Formation Day), and call for a meeting of the Apex Council to discuss it.
