Kristen Doute baby girl Kaia Lily has arrived, and the former “Vanderpump Rules” star couldn’t be happier.
Kristen and her fiancé, Luke Brodrick, welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Kaia Lily, on June 11. The new mom, now featured on Bravo’s “The Valley,” shared her excitement in an interview with Us Weekly, despite being sleep-deprived.
“She’s here, and we still can’t believe it,” Kristen said. “Luke is even hotter as a dad, and I just feel so lucky. And even though I haven’t slept or showered in two days, seeing our daughter and finally being able to hold her makes it all worth it. We’re completely overwhelmed with love and so grateful for her, our lives are already changed completely.”
The couple chose the name Kaia because of its Hawaiian meaning, “the sea”, which holds special meaning for them since they got engaged in Hawaii. Kristen explained that water played a big role in their baby name inspiration.
“We knew we wanted our baby name to have something to do, or revolve around, water,” Kristen shared.
As for Lily, that part of the name came from Kristen’s love of lilies, her favorite flower. She described them as symbols of beauty and new beginnings and added that the name Lily also reflects a gentle and compassionate personality.
The couple kept the name under wraps for a while. Back in April, Kristen revealed on Extra that they had already chosen a name. “She is named,” she said, but Luke added with a grin, “We’re not telling you.”
Their journey to parenthood wasn’t easy. In 2023, Kristen suffered a miscarriage, something she was open about with her followers. She appreciated the community of women who offered support during that time and praised the positive side of social media and reality TV for allowing people to connect through shared experiences.
“It’s been a really wonderful community of women out there who I know have really appreciated me coming out and saying that,” she said. “As much as I felt really secure in coming out and talking about it because of those women… surprise! We did conceive, it worked, so that’s also really exciting.”
Kristen first announced her pregnancy in November, revealing they began trying for a baby early in 2024. The couple met with a fertility specialist to understand their options and eventually tried IUI (intrauterine insemination), along with hormone treatments to prepare her body.
“The next month was a whirlwind,” she told People, “getting educated on fertility, and eventually hormone shots and preparing my body for IUI.”
Now, with baby Kaia Lily in their arms, Kristen and Luke are embracing parenthood with open hearts, sleepless nights, and plenty of love.
