Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 just got a serious upgrade with the arrival of Patch 8.

The highlight? A brand-new Siege Mode that brings Horde-style co-op chaos to the grimdark battlefield. This long-anticipated mode lets you and two fellow Space Marines take on endless waves of enemies, from the Tyranid swarm to Chaos horrors, in a desperate fight for survival.

Patch 8 is live now across all platforms, and fans of the franchise are already diving into this punishing new experience. If you’ve played World War Z (also developed by Saber Interactive), the influence is clear: Siege Mode ramps up the action with brutal enemy swarms, boss rounds, and wave-based combat mechanics that will test even the most seasoned battle brothers.

Saber Interactive noted that the biggest change made to Siege Mode came directly from player feedback. Early testers on the Public Test Server criticized the strict wave timer limit. In response, Saber explained that the timer existed mainly for technical reasons, but they’ve since optimized the mode to let battles last longer. So if you’re hoping for a longer-lasting siege, you’re in luck.

The new mode doesn’t just offer more enemies, it changes the pacing and feel of Space Marine 2. Siege Mode focuses on endurance and tactical cooperation. With each wave, enemies become faster, stronger, and more aggressive. You’ll need solid teamwork, strategic use of terrain, and careful resource management to stand a chance.

And this is just the beginning. Saber confirmed that Siege Mode is set to be a core pillar of the game’s future. Upcoming patches are expected to add new maps, more enemy types, and better difficulty scaling. That means the mode will evolve, giving fans new challenges and reasons to squad up again and again.

In true Warhammer fashion, Saber couldn’t resist adding a bit of thematic flair, stating: “It’s what the Emperor would have wanted.” That tongue-in-cheek blessing gives Siege Mode a lore-friendly seal of approval, and a nod to the diehard fans who’ve been waiting for more brutal, cooperative gameplay.

Looking further ahead, the team is also working on a major update that will let players reuse chapter champion armor parts across different classes. This will open up more customization options and help players build out their own unique Space Marine looks.

Space Marine 2 Siege Mode brings a fresh shot of adrenaline to the game’s co-op side. It’s intense, challenging, and already shaping up to be a fan favorite. Whether you’re a veteran of the Emperor’s legions or a newcomer to the battlefield, it’s time to gear up, lock and load, and hold the line.
