Elijah Blue Allman, son of music legend Cher and the late Gregg Allman, has reportedly been hospitalized after suffering a drug overdose in California.

The incident took place on Saturday, June 14, and the 48-year-old musician was taken to a local hospital where he remains under medical supervision.

According to sources who spoke to TMZ, Elijah is “still in the hospital and receiving the best care possible,” though it’s unclear what substances were involved.

Cher, 79, is said to be deeply concerned for her son’s well-being and is doing everything she can to support his recovery. A source close to the family shared that the iconic singer’s “only concern right now is for her son’s health.”

This incident follows a tumultuous few years for Elijah and Cher. In 2023, Cher filed for an emergency conservatorship over her son, citing fears for his life due to mental health struggles and alleged substance abuse. Her legal team stated in court documents that Elijah had been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder and had been involuntarily hospitalized multiple times under California’s 5150 law.

The court, however, denied the emergency conservatorship. The judge ruled that Elijah was managing his own finances, living independently, and had passed several drug tests. The decision emphasized that the court could not act on “fears” or “hypotheticals,” and found no immediate evidence warranting a conservatorship.

Elijah and Cher eventually reached a private agreement, leading her to drop the case later that year.

Elijah, who followed in his parents’ musical footsteps, has had a long and public struggle with addiction. In a 2014 interview with Entertainment Tonight, he revealed that he began using drugs at just 11 years old. He described several near-death experiences and said, “I did have some close calls and some moments of really feeling at the edge of mortality.”

He admitted that while he tried to “keep it a little bit safe,” addiction rarely allows for control.

This recent overdose casts a troubling shadow over what many had hoped was a period of stability for Elijah. The situation has reignited public concern and prompted fresh questions about mental health and substance abuse care for high-profile individuals.

Cher, who also shares 56-year-old son Chaz Bono with her late ex-husband Sonny Bono, has been open about her love for her children and her fierce protection of them. Friends say she is devastated but remains hopeful that Elijah will pull through and get the help he needs once and for all.

At this time, Elijah Blue Allman remains hospitalized and no official updates have been released regarding his condition or next steps in his treatment.

Fans and fellow celebrities have expressed support for Cher and her family as they navigate this latest crisis.
