New Delhi: Vedas, Upanishads and natural farming—that’s what Union Home Minister Amit Shah wants to dedicate his life to once he retires.
Shah made this revelation at a programme in Ahmedabad Wednesday. He held a meeting with women and workers associated with the cooperative sectors of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
“After I retire, I will dedicate the rest of my life to the Vedas, Upanishads and natural farming. Natural farming is a type of scientific experiment which gives many benefits,” Shah said.
The Union minister said growing wheat with chemical fertilisers often leads to various health issues. Natural farming not only helps the human body remain disease-free but also enhances agricultural productivity.
Shah said that eating wheat cultivated with fertiliser causes cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes and thyroid disease. “We did not know this initially… eating food without fertilisers is good for the health of the person who eats it. This means that there is no need for medicines,” he said.
The BJP leader further said that agricultural production also increases. “I have adopted natural farming in my farm, today my grain production has increased by almost one and a half times,” he said.
“When it rains a lot, the water generally goes out of the farm. But if you do organic farming, not a single drop will go out of the farm, it will go inside because when you do natural farming, catchways take shape. By putting a lot of fertiliser, you have destroyed all catchways,” he explained.
Shah said when he became the Home Minister of the country, everyone used to tell him that he had got a very important ministry. “But the day I was made the Cooperative Minister, I felt that I have got a department bigger than the Home Ministry; it works for farmers, poor, villagers and animals of the country,” he said.
Earlier in the day, Shah had posted that the Ministry of Cooperation is strengthening the country’s economy along with the rural economy by empowering the farmers as per Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Prosperity through Cooperation’.
