You have to start with your hands and feet and brush your skin in an upward motion towards your heart. During this whole process, you must keep your skin and brush completely dry. Get yourself ready:

Dry brushing your skin before the shower is more recommended. Your dry and dead cells will be removed as you brush your skin, so taking a shower immediately will give you better results.

The method:

You should brush your skin applying medium pressure. Applying more pressure may irritate your skin. Use long strokes. This will push up the lymph fluid. Brush each section more than once. 

The movement:

Dry brushing pushes lymph towards our chest and upper torso. Here, the lymphatic fluid reenters our bloodstream. You have to follow your circulatory system. Divide your body into sections and brush each section, moving upward. You can use a circular motion on your belly which may help your digestion, but there is no solid proof. So, just do what makes you feel good.

The upper body:

You need to start with your hand and feet and move towards your heart while brushing. So, for the upper body, start with your hands and brush forward. You have to be especially careful while brushing your underarms. Most of the lymph nodes are in this area. So, brush such areas gently.

The finishing:

You need to finish your brushing with your neck. The skin is sensitive and gentle here. So, you have to apply light pressure here. The techniques also vary for the neck. You have to start with your chin and move downwards towards your chest and finish the process by brushing over your heart.

Take a shower:

After brushing your whole body, the dead skins will be removed and your skin will be exfoliated. So, you have to clean your dry skin and be careful while washing it. You can skip the scrubbing process here.

After taking a bath, your skin turns really sensitive and will absorb every product more quickly. So, you need to use good-quality, healthy products on your skin for moisturising. Dry Brushing – Does it Really Work? My Experience:

I dry brush my skin super gently twice a week for about 5–10 minutes before showering, following the steps mentioned above. I don’t have issues like cellulite or crepey skin yet, so I mainly do this to get rid of dead skin, support lymphatic drainage, and pamper my dry, flaky skin. And so far? It’s been working great! My skin feels softer, smoother, and it’s even helped with the ingrown hairs on my legs.

After showering, I use a heavy-duty cream to moisturise, otherwise, my rough skin throws a tantrum (haha, true story) 😄. So I must say, this natural method is definitely worth a try. Just make sure to follow it up with a good hydrating moisturiser, no matter your skin type!
