Hollie Strano, a longtime Cleveland meteorologist, has found a new platform to deliver weather updates.

The former WKYC Channel 3 meteorologist, who was dismissed last year after more than two decades with the station, has joined Mix 94.1 in Stark County. Strano will provide daily weather reports for the Canton-based station from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

According to Mix 94.1, Strano brings extensive experience as an Emmy-winning meteorologist, mental health advocate, and creator of Abruptly Authentic, a podcast streaming on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.

“Let’s do this Stark County!” Strano shared in a Facebook post. “So much love for you, Canton! Thank you for having me!”

Why Strano Left WKYC

Strano’s departure from WKYC was announced in September 2024, about nine months after she was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence in November 2023. She later pleaded guilty.

Following her termination, Strano said she was saddened by the decision, claiming her exit highlighted the stigma surrounding addiction recovery. WKYC’s parent company, Tegna, declined to comment beyond confirming her employment ended. She has since filed a lawsuit alleging wrongful termination tied to her public recovery journey and promotional activity.

Expanding Her Forecast Reach

In addition to her new role in Stark County, Strano is also delivering forecasts for radio stations in Georgia and Alabama.

“What an honor it is to be bringing you the forecast each day, from my hometown in Cleveland to your radios down South!” she wrote on Facebook last month.

Beyond radio, Strano continues to host her podcast, Abruptly Authentic with Hollie Strano, where she blends weather expertise with personal storytelling and mental health advocacy.
