Thomas Rhett and Lauren Akins are about to become parents of five! The country superstar and his wife shared the joyful news on Instagram, revealing they are expecting another baby – a surprise that already has their four daughters thrilled to take on the role of big sisters once again.
In a lighthearted announcement video, Rhett gave fans a musical update by tweaking the lyrics to his hit song Life Changes. Standing beside his wife, he sang, “Well, I was wrapping my head around being a dad. Big wrench got thrown in the plans that we thought we had. Now Lauren’s showing – got one on the way. That’s – five under 10. Hey what can I say? Yeah, life changes.” The post was captioned, “Here we go again! We’ve got some really excited big sisters in our house. God is so good.”
The couple, who have been married since 2012, are already parents to daughters Willa Gray, 9, Ada James, 8, Lennon Love, 5, and Lillie Carolina, 3. Known for their candidness about family life, both Rhett and Akins have often shared glimpses into the joy – and chaos – of raising four little girls.
Speaking to PEOPLE previously, Rhett described fatherhood as “beautiful chaos,” explaining, “It’s changed my life. There are days where it’s like, ‘Good Lord, at what time are we going to bed?’ But as they’re getting older, it’s been the biggest blessing in my life.”
The singer often credits his daughters for teaching him patience and reshaping the way he views love and family. “My girls have softened my heart in so many ways. I love my girls more than anything in the world,” he said.
Parenthood has even become a point of connection in his career. While working with Katy Perry on their duet Where We Started, Rhett admitted most of their studio conversations revolved around their children. “We literally talked about our kids the entire time – how we’re raisin’ ’em and what we’re feeding ’em. I think that’s just what you do as a parent these days,” he told Audacy’s Rob + Holly.
For Rhett and Akins, welcoming another baby may add to the chaos, but it also brings more of what they value most: family. With four daughters already doting on each other, baby number five is sure to be greeted with open arms.
