HBO’s hit series The White Lotus is packing its bags for another glamorous destination, with Season 4 officially headed to France.
Creator Mike White and the network are now zeroing in on the country as the backdrop for the next installment of the murder mystery dramedy, which has already taken viewers from Hawaii to Italy to Thailand.
While HBO has yet to comment, sources confirm that scouting is underway across several French locations. Given the show’s ongoing partnership with the Four Seasons hotel chain, speculation has turned to the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, a storied property on the French Riviera with deep Hollywood ties. Its proximity to Cannes makes it a prime contender, although insiders caution that no single hotel has been locked in.
Following the trend of past seasons, White may use multiple resorts to build the narrative. Season 3, for example, was anchored by the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui but also incorporated three additional properties across Thailand. For France, the Cap-Ferrat location would align with the coastal elegance of earlier seasons, though there are other Four Seasons outposts in play – including the alpine Megève and the Hotel George V in central Paris.
Each of these locations would mark a distinct tonal shift. Megève, a popular ski destination, could offer snowy landscapes but may clash with White’s admitted dislike for cold-weather settings. Paris, on the other hand, would place The White Lotus in an urban setting for the first time, bringing a more cosmopolitan vibe to the anthology.
At the close of Season 3, White hinted at wanting to move slightly away from the series’ “crashing waves of rocks” aesthetic while still keeping the core DNA of luxury and intrigue intact. Whether France will deliver beachfront glamour, alpine drama, or Parisian romance remains to be seen.
One thing is certain: the buzz around Season 4 is already strong. The third season scored 23 Emmy nominations, cementing The White Lotus as one of HBO’s prestige titles. With production eyeing a possible 2025 start, fans won’t have to wait too long before they’re checking in once again – this time under the glow of French elegance.
