The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recalled Endico brand frozen vegetables because of potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

The alert, issued on September 4, comes after routine testing at a Pennsylvania distributor found traces of the harmful bacteria.

The recall includes two specific Endico frozen vegetable products, Peas & Carrots and Mixed Vegetables, both produced by New York-based Endico Potatoes Inc. Distribution has been suspended with effect, and the company is working with the FDA as an investigation is currently ongoing.

How to Identify the Affected Products

Recalled frozen vegetables were shipped from July 18 through August 4, 2025, in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Florida.

Consumers can search for the recalled product by checking the lot codes embossed on the package:

Endico Peas & Carrots: Lot 110625 | Production Date: 6/11/25 | Use By: 6/10/27

Endico Mixed Vegetables: Lot 170625 | Production Date: 6/17/25 | Use By: 6/16/27

The products were sold in 2.5-pound clear plastic bags bearing the Endico label. Images of the packaging are provided on the FDA’s official recall webpage.

Health Concerns Associated with Listeria

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause serious, and at times fatal, infections. At-risk populations, children, older adults, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems, are most vulnerable.

In healthy individuals, listeria infection would typically be a precursor to temporary symptoms including fever, headache, nausea, diarrhea, stomach cramps, and muscle aches. Although no illnesses have been reported to date that may be associated with this recall, the FDA is erring on the side of caution by asking consumers to heed the warning seriously.

What Consumers Should Do

Anyone who purchased the recalled products should not consume them. Instead, customers should return the frozen vegetables to where they bought them and ask for a complete refund.

Customers with questions may call Endico Potatoes Inc. directly at 1-800-431-1398 for additional information.

The FDA is nevertheless monitoring the situation and has emphasized the importance of food safety in preventing widespread health risks.
