TRICKSTAR returns with yet another brutal drop on Dim Mak Records with this one serving their brand new single “Halfstep.”
The track is a gritty adrenaline rush, built with Festival Trap ferocity, pounding drums, electronic kicks, and infectious synth hook that will set dancefloors ablaze.
“Halfstep was one of the first song we made when we went to Bangkok, so we just wanted to create a fun festival trap song based on something about the trip vibes!” the pair explained. What resulted was an infectious anthem that tapped into both the chaos and exhilaration of their international creative escapade.
A pair with momentum
TRICKSTAR, the production duo of Ookay and Bailo, have been on a meteoric rise since they started the project. With their intricate production, hyper-stimulated visual aesthetic, and high-energy live sets, the duo has quickly become one of the most promising new crews in the world of bass music.
They first made their mark with a big-name collaboration with Marshmello, which racked up millions of streams and made them legitimate threats to break out. Further collaborations with young bass artist Eater further proved their skill and cemented their legitimacy within the genre.
Their live performance debut as TRICKSTAR was at the sold-out Brownies & Lemonade “Real Trap Sh!t” party in Los Angeles, squarely on the trap fan radar from the start. They’ve kept pace ever since with relentless touring and crowd-busting shows.
Festival domination
The pair’s 2025 EDC Las Vegas debut was a watershed moment in their career, exposing their project to one of the electronic music scene’s largest stages. Their performance was highlighted for its energy, accuracy, and power to engage the masses—solidifying their position as a festival circuit must-see act.
With “Halfstep,” TRICKSTAR resumes their run of Dim Mak singles, following their previous singles “Redemption” and “Left Right.” Each single has continued to top the last one, resulting in a run of high-energy festival smashes that audiences and DJs alike cannot get enough of.
What’s next for TRICKSTAR
“Halfstep” isn’t just a song, it’s a statement of where TRICKSTAR is headed. The duo has shown definitively that they’re pushing boundaries in the trap and bass world, merging classic festival atmosphere with their own forward-thinking production style.
As their discography grows, so does their fan base, and TRICKSTAR is well on its way to being one of the leading bands of the next wave of festival trap. With more releases, collabs, and tour dates likely on the horizon, “Halfstep” is proof these two are just getting started.
