Last month’s win was the 36-year-old’s first success at Augusta National in Georgia having first partaken in the tournament back in 2009.
McIlroy now has five major titles to his name, with last month’s success coming 11 years after his previous major at the 2014 PGA Championship, having also won the US Open earlier in the same year.
This weekend’s PGA Championship will take place at Quail Hollow in North Carolina, on a course where McIlroy has enjoyed success on numerous occasions before having won the Wells Fargo Championship there on four occasions, most recently last year.
The Northern Irishman is remains ranked second in the world and is the form player on this year’s PGA Tour, having also won the Players’ Championship and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, leaving him with more victories than anyone else on the Tour this year.
This weekend sees McIlroy aim to be come the first person to win consecutive majors since Jordan Spieth achieved the feat 10 years ago, when the American followed up his Masters victory with a win in the US Open at Chambers Bay.
