Information can be shared via the Seema Sathi helpline at 14419 or by WhatsApp and voice messages on 9903472227. “Credible information will be rewarded, and the identity of informers will be kept confidential,” the Public Relations Officer of BSF South Bengal Frontier said.
On Friday, May 16, personnel from the 143 Battalion of the BSF South Bengal Frontier thwarted a gold smuggling attempt along the India-Bangladesh border in the North 24 Parganas district. Two smugglers were caught attempting to bring 10 gold biscuits, weighing 1.167 kg and valued at approximately ₹1 crore 11 lakh, into India from Bangladesh.
The seizure took place around 10:30 a.m. near Hakimpara Uttarpara village after BSF personnel noticed suspicious activity. The accused were detained on the spot, and during interrogation at the Hakimpur border outpost, they admitted to intending to hand over the gold to another local resident in exchange for a payment of ₹2,800.
