It’s tough playing alongside Scottie Scheffler – just ask Si Woo Kim and Max Homa.

Scheffler is closing on his third major title following an incredible display of golfing brilliance at the PGA Championship on Saturday.

Scheffler’s rivals at the PGA Championship looked worn out following their round on Saturday

In more tough conditions at Quail Hollow, Scheffler shot a stunning 65 to secure a three-shot lead going into Sunday’s final round.

His day included seven birdies and an eagle while he played Quail Hollow’s infamous Green Mile in two-under to impose himself on the major tournament.

Scheffler was playing the third round alongside South Korea’s Si Woo Kim and Ryder Cup team-mate Max Homa.

Kim shot a level-par round of 71 while Homa endured a five-over 76, leaving both with plenty to do to get back into contention on Sunday.

After finishing their rounds, the trio retired to the scorer’s hut to sign their scorecards and reflect on their efforts.

And the behind-the-scenes moment has since been picked up by fans around the world on social media.

As Scheffler noted down the scores of his stunning round, Kim and Homa can be seen behind the two-time Masters champion looking shell-shocked.

With shoulders slumped and a glazed look across their faces, the golfing duo summed up what it would feel like for us mere mortals to play a round alongside the greatness of Scheffler.

Kim and Homa have ten PGA Tour wins between them but neither could come close to Scheffler’s imperious form on Saturday and their reactions post-round laid that bare.

Scheffler will resume his tournament alongside Sweden’s Alex Noren at 7:40pm on Sunday as he looks to get the job done and secure his third major trophy.

The 28-year-old won his two Masters titles after holding the 54-hole lead and someone from the chasing pack will need to pull off a minor miracle to catch him in Charlotte.

“Winning it would mean a lot,” he said.

“These tournaments are very important to us and you work your whole life to have a chance to win major tournaments, any tournament for that matter.

“Tomorrow I have a good opportunity to go out there and try and win the golf tournament, but it’s going to take another really good round.

“There’s a lot of great players chasing me on the leaderboard and someone is going to put up a great round.

“It’s up to me to go out there and have another really good round and finish off the tournament – I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

After finishing fourth at the Masters last month, Scheffler claimed his first win of the season at CJ Cup Byron Nelson two weeks ago.

He finished on a brilliant score of 31-under-par to beat South Africa’s Erik van Rooyen by eight strokes.

Scheffler will no doubt be looking to put the pedal down at Quail Hollow on Sunday and extend his lead at the PGA Championship to win at a canter.
