Corporation faces flak over bus stand fire

After the fire that engulfed a huge portion of the mofussil bus stand building in Kozhikode, the city Corporation authorities are facing brickbats from various quarters.

Indian Union Muslim League district president M.A. Razak Master and general secretary T.T. Ismail demanded action against the Corporation that owned the building as the owners of the textile shop that was gutted had not followed any of the guidelines.

“The Mayor and the Deputy Mayor or the Corporation secretary cannot evade questions regarding unauthorised buildings in the city anymore. The safety of the buildings has been compromised as the Corporation converted the building sector in the city into an arena of corruption,” Razak Master said.

Former BJP State president K. Surendran also came down heavily on the Corporation and demanded action against the Mayor and the Deputy Mayor. “We need a judicial investigation into the recurring fire mishaps in the city,” he said.
