Four members of a family and two others died in a road accident in Vijayapura district on May 21, 2025. Early Wednesday morning, an SUV vehicle traveling towards Solapur jumped the median and collided with a private bus coming from Mumbai to Ballari near Managuli in Vijayapura district on the National Highway 50.
Five passengers in the car, including T. Bhaskaran Malakanthan of Gadwal in Telangana, his wife Pavithra T.B., Abhiram T.B., Jyotsna T.B. and car driver Vikas Shivappa Makhani, died on the spot.
Basavaraj Rathod Kalagutagi, the driver of the private bus also died. Praveen Tej, the 10-year-old son of Bhaskaran Malakanthan, was injured and taken to the hospital.
SP Laxman Nimbargi visited the spot. Police cleared the debris to allow vehicle movement on one side of the National Highway. A case is being registered.
