A 41-year-old woman and her seven-year-old daughter from Mannoor, near here, were among the victims of Tuesday’s tragic road accident that took place in Kenya.
Riya Puthanpurayil, 41, from Rishi Villa, Kanhirampara, Mannoor, and her daughter Taira were among the five tourists killed when their bus overturned in Kenya on Tuesday afternoon.
Riya’s husband Joel, 41, and son Travis, 14, were injured in the accident. Joel hailed from Coimbatore.
Riya has been working with a company involved in Qatar airport maintenance. Her husband Joel is a tour operator. She joined his tour to Kenya along with the family to celebrate the Idul-Azha vacation.
Riya has been working in Qatar for six years. The children were to fly home later this month, and Riya and Joel in July.
Daughter of Radhakrishnan Puthanpurayil and Santhi, Riya has a twin brother named Shea working in Dubai. Her younger brother Rishi is also working in Dubai.
