YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has said that Andhra Pradesh has become ‘a hotbed of anarchy.’
In a post on X on Monday, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said that democracy, law and justice were dying. “People, democrats, intellectuals and journalists are being terrorised. For a year, no one is allowed to raise their voice on behalf of the people against the anarchic and unjust rule of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. The Chief Minister has been trying to suppress their voices by committing gross abuse of power,” he alleged.
Referring to the arrest of senior journalist Kommineni Srinivasa Rao, the former Chief Minister said,“Mr. Naidu has taken the toxic culture of political vendetta to its peak by arresting the 70-year-old journalist for the remarks he did not make. How can the anchor be held responsible for the words uttered by the speakers in a debate? Haven’t we seen instances of many guests speaking in a manner that undermined personalities on some TV channels? Isn’t this still happening?,” he asked.
Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said it seemed to be a calculated plan to ensure that the media do not stand by the people, and that Naidu’s wrongdoings are not questioned. “Attacks are being made on the Sakshi by making false accusations and twisting narratives. This is not the first time. Mr. Naidu got Mr. Kommineni removed from a job. Unable to tolerate his impartial debates, restrictions were imposed on that channel between 2014 and2019. I strongly condemn the arrest of Mr. Kommineni,” he said.
He said that Mr. Naidu has to answer people for the injustices, illegalities, and abuse of power he has committed.
