Avril Lavigne is expanding her creative empire beyond music and into winemaking.

On Tuesday, Sept. 16, the Canadian pop-punk icon announced the launch of her first official wine, a collaboration with Banshee Wines called “Banshee Complicated.” The limited-edition pinot noir takes its name from her 2002 breakout single “Complicated” and follows on the heels of her recent North American Greatest Hits Tour.

The wine, part of the Foley Family Wines & Spirits (FFWS) portfolio, is described as light and velvety, with bright cherry and raspberry notes. Retailing at $30, Complicated will be available exclusively on the Banshee website and, while supplies last, at the Banshee tasting room for both tasting and purchase.

Lavigne revealed that the idea for the collaboration developed naturally over the past two years. “I’ve been collaborating with Banshee for the past two years, starting with my Greatest Hits Tour, where the Banshee bar became a staple backstage and at my afterparties,” the 40-year-old singer explained. “As my love for wine has grown over the years, I knew they were the brand I wanted to collaborate with to launch my first official wine.”

She noted that the wine was originally created for the backstage bar during her tour. “We wanted everything to feel cohesive, whether onstage or backstage. Naming it after one of my greatest hits was really cool, and it stuck for this collab,” Lavigne said.

Jason Daniel, chief marketing officer of FFWS, highlighted the significance of the partnership, saying the collaboration fuses Lavigne’s “unmistakable artistry and rock ’n’ roll spirit with our winemaking craft, giving fans a new way to connect with her music.”

The launch also comes with unique fan offerings. Alongside the wine release, Banshee will make available 50 limited-edition “Sip and Spin” kits, which include a record player and Lavigne’s debut album Let Go on vinyl. In honor of Lavigne’s career, Banshee is also pledging a $10,000 donation to She Is the Music, an organization dedicated to empowering women in the music industry by funding songwriting camps and opportunities.

For Lavigne, the project is both personal and celebratory. She admitted that Complicated has returned to the top of her playlist when she’s enjoying a glass of wine. Yet, she prefers to share her drinks in good company. When asked about her dream dinner party lineup, she listed Dolly Parton, Prince, Post Malone, Yungblud, and Shania Twain, imagining the stories that such an eclectic group could share over wine.

With the release of “Banshee Complicated,” Avril Lavigne gives fans a fresh way to experience her artistry, blending her music legacy with winemaking while supporting a cause close to her heart.
