ax1om is the new kid on the block within the peak time techno scene, and he introduces himself with this first solo release, which features two hard-hitting tracks that make a statement.
There isn’t much to say about ax1om due to this being only his second outing, with his previous being a single track that featured as part of a compilation. That compilation was released on Clif Jack’s record label MJA the Vision, which is also the record label releasing the new pack called In the Moment.
There is a maturity with this release and the way it showcases ax1om’s ability to work up a storm on a dance floor. This is backed up with earning support from DJs including the mighty Adam Beyer.
“In the Moment” is the title track, and it utilises rattling hi-hats, and an intense bassline augmented by low-frequency stabs. Its fierce vibe is led by standout vocals that have soulful tones, which are degraded to have a raw aesthetics that fits the mood of the track. It’s best summarised as old-school rave meets modern techno, and it’s executed with the skilled precision of a pedigree producer.
“Liability” is second of the tracks, and it has industrial atmospherics combined with ominous bass pads. It has an aggressive mood that ebbs and flows with swelling suspense, and its unapologetic sound has an in-your-face energy that leaves nowhere to hide on a dance floor.
Planting a flag and laying claim to his space within the peak time techno scene, ax1om has come out the gate strong, and we expect this to be the start on an illustrious career.
