Four were nabbed by the Balapur police for plotting and executing a robbery of ₹29 lakh from a businessman. Police recovered ₹28.2 lakh in cash.
Commissioner of Rachakonda police, G. Sudheer Babu said that the prime accused, Syed Abdul Khadar, a businessman from Errakunta, along with his uncle Habeed Haroon of Jamal Banda, orchestrated the entire robbery. “The duo recruited three others, Vardhan from Chandrayangutta, Rasikanth Bardan alias Kittu, a businessman from Katedan, and Rasheed Khan, who remain at large,” said the officer.
Ilyas, of Santosh Nagar, instructed his father Mohd Zakeer, 58, to deliver ₹29 lakh to his son-in-law Kabeer for a plot purchase via a relative named Obed. “Since Kabeer was unavailable in Hyderabad, Ilyas directed his father to hand the money over to Khadar, a man who he thought was trustworthy. However, Khadar and his uncle had planned to rob them,” explained the Commissioner.
On the day of the handover, Zakeer was lured to a dark, secluded location near a gas station in Errakunta through a Google location shared by Khadar. As Zakeer and his associate Habeebullah waited at the spot, they were attacked by Rasheed and Kittu who beat them with sticks and fled with the cash.
The stolen money was then handed over to Khadar, who promptly gave ₹20,000 each to the other conspirators, promising the rest in two days. The bulk of the cash was stashed away at Khadar’s residence. Rasheed Khan remains at large, and efforts are underway to track him down.
