Bengaluru gets 100 mm rainfall in 24 hours, commuters brave traffic snarls

Commuters in Bengaluru in the early hours on Monday (May 19, 2025) were welcomed by waterlogged roads in parts of the city after a moderate to heavy spell of rains lashed the city on Sunday (May 18) night.

Overnight downpour that lashed Bengaluru in the intervening night between Sunday (May 18, 2025) and Monday (May 19, 2025) brought the city to its knees as roads, bus stands, layouts were flooded causing inconvenience the citizens. In some areas, the residents were evacuated to safety using boats and tractors. 

The city has been reeling under inundation for the past three days due to pre-monsoon showers coupled with gaps in flood mitigation measures of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
