Memorial Day’s slate of games kicks off with a matchup between the Colorado Rockies and Chicago Cubs.

With Carson Palmquist getting the start for Colorado, the Chicago Cubs have the opportunity to put together a dominant performance as the Rockies pitcher has struggled with his command this season.

Especially with the Cubs excelling on offense as they rank near the top of the board in Contact Rate and in On Base Percentage.

With eleven other games taking place on Memorial Day’s slate of games, there are plenty of prop bets to groom through which you can read a detailed breakdown of them below.

Colorado Rockies vs Chicago Cubs (2:20pm, EST)

Carson Palmquist over 2.5 earned runs: (-145) at BetMGM Sportsbook

It has been a rough start to the year for Carson Palmquist as the Colorado Rockies pitcher heads into Memorial Day averaging an ERA of 11.88, a WHIP of 2.520, and a FIP of 7.52.

His struggles stem from his inability to avoid contact as Palmquist is also averaging an astonishing two Hits Against per Inning Pitched in his brief appearances so far this season.

Expect the Rockies pitchers struggles to continue to persist as he faces off against a Chicago Cubs offense who ranks above league average in Team Total Hits, RBIs, Total Runs Scored, and in On Base Percentage.

Especially with his defense giving him little to no support with their coverage as the Rockies currently rank dead last in Defensive Efficiency and in Fielding Percentage.

Pete Crow-Armstrong over 1.5 total bases: (+140) at FanDuel Sportsbook

With Palmquist struggling to avoid contact, Pete Crow-Armstrong is in a favorable position to thrive as the Cubs pitcher excels at generating Hits.

At this point of the season, the Cubs batter is averaging over one Hit per game, a .286 Batting Average, and a .891 OPS. For some more exposure, escalator bet Crow-Armstrong’s total base prop by placing smaller wagers on his alternate totals.

Toronto Blue Jays vs Texas Rangers (4:05pm, EST)

Kevin Gausman under 5.5 hits allowed: (-145) at BetMGM Sportsbook

While Palmquist has struggled, Kevin Gausman has gotten off to a hot start to the year as the Toronto pitcher is currently averaging a FIP of 3.38, a WHIP of 0.983, and less than one Hit Against per Inning Pitched. Unlike the Rockies pitcher, Gausman is surrounded by a successful back end which helps limit the amount of contact variance in his starts as the Blue Jays defense ranks 11th in Defensive Efficiency.

Gausman’s individual production, coupled with a back end who excels in coverage, shades value towards the under on his Hits Allowed prop as the Rockies will struggle to make contact. Especially with Colorado’s current lineup already underwhelming in their efforts of generating Hits as the Rockies offense ranks 29th overall in Team Total Hits and first in Strikeout Rate.

Adolis Garcia under 0.5 hit: (+130) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Once considered a reliable slugger, Adolis Garcia has continued to underwhelm since the start of the regular season as the Rangers batter is currently averaging less than one Hit per game and a .213 Batting Average. With Gausman avoiding contact at a consistent rate, as well as the Rangers defense excelling in coverage, expect Garcia to be held under the total on his Hits prop.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs Cleveland Guardians (6:10pm, EST)

Yoshinobu Yamamoto over 17.5 outs: (-150) at FanDuel Sportsbook

After dealing with an injury earlier in the year, Yoshinobu Yamamoto has managed to quickly round back into form by holding the Arizona Diamondbacks vaunted offense to just one Hit and zero Earned Runs in his last outing.

His latest performance mirrored what we have seen from him so far this season as Yamamoto is currently averaging an ERA of 1.86, a WHIP of 0.914, and less than one Hit Against per Inning Pitched.

Heading into Monday, Yamamoto will have the opportunity to sustain his high level of play as he faces off against a Cleveland offense who ranks near the bottom of the board in Team Total Hits and in On Base Percentage. Should the total on Yamamoto’s Outs prop jump up to 18.5 before you are able to place a wager, then pass on this market.
