Beyoncé’s daughter Rumi Carter is already embracing the spotlight, and she’s only seven.
The youngest daughter of global superstar Beyoncé made headlines after her grandmother, Tina Knowles, shared a heart-melting backstage moment about her stage confidence. While her big sister Blue Ivy has already danced on previous tours, little Rumi is now stepping into the spotlight during her mom’s Cowboy Carter tour, and apparently, she’s loving every second of it.
According to E! News, Tina Knowles recently spoke during her book tour in Brooklyn, New York, promoting her autobiography Matriarch. She revealed that her granddaughter Rumi described her on-stage experience in one bold word: “powerful.” Tina shared, “You know, my granddaughter Rumi told me, I said, ‘How do you feel when you wave and everybody screams?’ She said, ‘It feels powerful.’ I was like, ‘Oh. I see what you mean.’” Looks like Beyoncé’s daughter Rumi is already channeling her inner queen.
During the Cowboy Carter tour, Beyoncé brings Rumi on stage during her emotional performance of Protector, and fans can’t get enough of the tiny performer waving sweetly to the crowd. Rumi’s twin brother, Sir, hasn’t joined the stage yet, but it’s clear this family is full of performers.
Tina Knowles also joined her daughter and granddaughters on stage in a special moment to celebrate Beyoncé’s memoir reaching number one on the New York Times bestsellers list. But fans noticed Tina gently stepping in during the moment when Rumi reached up for the mic, some even speculated that she was scolding her.
Tina cleared the air quickly. “It was real; it was real life. Grandmas don’t play,” she laughed. “No, it really wasn’t that. It was just that she was reaching for the mic because she wanted to say something, and I realized that. But she was pulling, and I was like, “Oh God, all that needs to happen is that the mic hits her in the face, and they say, ‘Oh, Beyoncé hit her in the face.’”
The family moment turned out to be one of Tina’s favorites. She shared how special it felt being on stage with her daughter and granddaughters: “I got to be on there with her, and Blue and Rumi, that made it special. It was from a different perspective. I mean, I’m usually behind the stage. But it was actually fun; it was exciting.”
While Tina is incredibly proud of her grandkids and everything Beyoncé’s built, she admitted she has mixed feelings about Blue Ivy’s involvement in the entertainment world. Blue, now 13, has become a familiar face on stage over the years, but Tina hopes she chooses a different path. She told Extra, “My wish for her is that I wish that she would do something else. I hope that she doesn’t go into entertainment.”
Tina went on to explain that while she hopes Blue explores other interests, she understands the importance of building confidence. “I think it’s a huge sacrifice. It’s a huge sacrifice in your life. But if she chooses to do it, I’m going to be right up front screaming and cheering. But hopefully she’ll choose something else. What I do know, and that’s why her mom let her do it, is because she got her confidence there. And it’s beautiful to see.”
From Blue’s tour-dancing days to Rumi’s emerging confidence on stage, the Carter family is shaping the future of showbiz royalty. Whether or not Rumi follows in Beyoncé’s legendary footsteps, one thing is clear, she already knows the power of presence, and she’s not afraid to shine.
