Varanasi: Initiating a step towards patient-centric care and institutional transparency, the trauma centre of Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), BHU has launched a facility to provide real-time information on ICU and ward bed availability.
Launching the initiative on Sunday evening, Trauma Centre in-charge Prof Saurabh Singh said the system would enable patients and their attendants to view the status of vacant and occupied beds, names of the respective doctors, the previous day’s emergency census, and the number of patients currently waiting in the emergency department in a clear and transparent manner.
“This facility will eliminate uncertainty and ambiguity regarding bed availability. By making the actual status of admissions visible in real time, it instils confidence and reassurance among patients and their families,” Singh said.
According to officials, the initiative not only enhances transparency in hospital operations but also strengthens the bond of trust between patients, their attendants, and the medical fraternity.
By offering clarity on admissions and occupancy, the Trauma Centre aims to set new benchmarks in accountable healthcare delivery. All information related to bed availability can be accessed on the official website of the trauma centre (https://traumacentrebhu.com/#/bed-availability).
Additionally, a QR code has been created, enabling instant access to the same data on mobile devices. The bed status is automatically updated every five minutes, ensuring users receive the most accurate and up-to-date information at all times.
“Transparency is the best methodology. With this initiative, patients and their families will have access to real-time information, thereby reinforcing trust and accountability in hospital services,” Prof Singh said.
He further mentioned that the trauma centre remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering not only the highest standards of clinical care but also a patient experience that is transparent, reliable, and trustworthy.
