Brad Pitt is learning to slow down, not just in life, but literally, behind the wheel.

The 61-year-old actor is currently promoting his new movie F1, where he plays a retired racecar driver named Sonny Hayes. While filming gave him a chance to zoom around real racetracks, Brad recently admitted that the high-speed role has made him reflect on how he handles regular traffic.

In a chat with Extra, he said, “I’m one of those that feels like I’m always on the racetrack and I need to, like, chill.” He followed that up with a laugh and some self-awareness, adding, “I just need to chill. So that’s this year, just trying to chill. Enjoy the sights, don’t sweat the traffic. I’m not doing very well, by the way.”

It’s not just on the road where Brad’s taking a step back. In life and in Hollywood, he’s also embracing a more relaxed and observant role. Speaking about his work in F1, he noted how he relates to his character’s return to the sport. “It’s a funny thing because I see the new generations coming in and it’s really exciting what they’re doing,” he said. “I really enjoy it, but I so enjoy what other people are doing, so it’s less of a hunt and more of an appreciation, you know?”

That mindset seems to reflect Brad’s personal growth, too. After his long divorce process with Angelina Jolie finally wrapped up in December 2024, eight years after she first filed, he seems more focused on learning from the past. In another interview with Entertainment Tonight, he said, “No matter the mistake, you just learn from it and move on.” He added, “It’ll lead to the next success.”

Brad and Angelina, who famously co-starred in Mr. & Mrs. Smith, share six children together, Maddox (23), Pax (21), Zahara (20), Shiloh (19), and twins Knox and Vivienne (16). Despite the public challenges over the years, he’s focused on staying grounded with the help of close relationships.

“At this age, you see how important it is to surround yourself with the people you know, the people you love, the people that love you back,” Brad shared. “Friends, family, and that’s it. From there, we get to go make things. It’s a pretty simple, I think, equation.”

Between lessons from racing scenes and life changes, Brad Pitt is clearly trying to ease up on the gas, literally and emotionally. Whether or not he’s mastered LA traffic is still up for debate. But the message is clear: slow down, stay grounded, and appreciate what’s in front of you.
