It led Clark to reveal her intense mentality amid the Angel Reese fallout.

As a result of that gritty contest, referees in the Fever-Dream game had their work cut out as they were forced to make many calls.

During the first two quarters alone, three calls were challenged by the team’s two head-coaches and all of them were overturned after replays.

It’s safe to say the officials were making mistakes, and players grew upset about fouls not getting called.

Particularity Caitlin Clark, and it led to her boyfriend McCaffery conveying his frustration on X, writing, “”Good to see the W refs in mid season form”, before hastily deleting it.

While the referees weren’t in the finest form, Clark still had a stellar performance despite her team’s loss.

“A little adversity, how are we going to respond? I have to give my team a lot of credit; we never gave up. We found a way to get back in it.

“We have a chance to go there and play them [again]. We can get a little redemption if we go down there and play well.”

Despite trailing most of the game, the Fever battled back to outscore Atlanta 25-15 in the fourth quarter.

With 21 seconds left they took their first lead after Aliyah Boston made her two free throws.

However, the Fever then fouled Rhyne Howards and the 25-year-old made both her free throws.

Fever star Kelsey Mitchell also impressed with 24 points on the night, but cut a dejected figure after the game as she expressed frustration at the way the team played.

“Today we failed miserably as a group because there were certain things set in stone for us to be effective from quarter 1 to quarter 4,” Mitchell said while talking to reporters.

“And you guys didn’t see what it was supposed to look like until quarter 3½.

“So it kinds of just lies in the discipline right now: awareness, knowing personnel. Certain stuff we have to home in on to be successful. Our lulls were too low. They can’t be that low. We don’t have that margin for error.”

The Fever will have a chance to exact revenge when they host the Dream in Indiana on Thursday.
