Candace Cameron Bure has opened up about why she deleted a swimsuit photo from Instagram after it attracted a wave of body-shaming remarks.

The 49-year-old actress, best known for Full House and Fuller House, confirmed in a recent Instagram Story that she removed the picture because the comments section quickly turned negative.

The image showed Bure wearing a modest one-piece swimsuit while enjoying a late-summer day outdoors. She explained that her choice to take it down had nothing to do with regret about the photo itself. Instead, it was because of how followers responded.

“It wasn’t about the bathing suit or my body,” Bure said. “But the comments became flooded with people discussing my body. It wasn’t worth it. I took it down.” She added her statement over a cheerful photo of herself in a yellow strapless dress, smiling in the sun.

This isn’t the first time the actress has had to confront unsolicited opinions about her appearance. Back in 2018, she responded directly to a critic who suggested she looked heavier than her husband despite exercising regularly. Her clapback was simple: “If a 25-inch waist looks big to you … then you’re looking through an altered lens. Be well.”

Bure has previously been candid about her struggles with body image and eating disorders. In her 2010 memoir Reshaping It All, she revealed she battled bulimia as a way to cope with stress and isolation. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in 2016, she described her past as a period when she had “a very unhealthy relationship with food” and admitted she often turned to it for comfort while her husband was away.

On her podcast earlier this year, Bure reflected on how body insecurities began at an early age, recalling vivid memories of dieting attempts as young as 12. She admitted to trying nearly every popular plan, including Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig, as part of her long struggle with body image.

In one emotional story, she said she once had a dream that gave her clarity about how harshly she treated herself. Comparing her inner dialogue to a biblical story of Balaam beating his donkey, she admitted, “I’ve whipped my body. I’ve spoken to it so harshly. So mean. ‘What are you doing? Why do you look this way? Why are you fat? Why can’t you be like every other body?’”

While Bure continues to use her platform to share her faith and positivity, she made it clear that online negativity isn’t something she plans to tolerate. Deleting the swimsuit post, she said, was simply about protecting her peace.
