Chocolate Glaze Cookies are one of those treats that you can never stop at one. These are soft when fresh out of the oven and turn perfectly crisp as they cool down, with a nice chocolate glaze on top making them even more tempting. They are great for tea time or just for those sudden sweet cravings.

The cocoa flavor blends so well with the buttery taste and the thin glaze gives a mild sweetness on top so it is not too heavy. This is a very simple recipe and does not take much time. Even if you are new to baking you can make it easily. You can also skip the glaze and have it as plain chocolate cookies.

About Chocolate Glaze Cookies
Chocolate Glaze Cookies are made with a simple cocoa dough baked till crisp then glazed with a smooth chocolate topping. The glaze gives a nice shine and also an extra sweetness. It is something kids and elders both will enjoy without any fuss. These cookies are also easy to pack and carry for picnics or short trips.
The flavor is mainly chocolate so it pairs well with milk coffee or even as a side with a scoop of ice cream. The texture is crisp outside but still has a light bite in the center. They feel light yet rich and are quite addictive. They also make a nice snack to keep on the table when guests come home.
You can dark cocoa powder when you want a stronger taste. You can also try adding a pinch of cinnamon for that spice touch. If you do not want glaze you can also dust it with some icing sugar or with white chocolate drizzle. You can also sprinkle few chopped nuts on top for that little crunch.
I usually make these when I want a quick bake especially for evenings. No need to chill the dough so it is ready to go straight into the oven. It is also nice to pack as small gifts for friends or family.

Chocolate Glaze Cookies Ingredients
- Maida – I have used regular all purpose flour as the main base so the cookies hold shape well. You can even use wheat flour if you like a little different texture.
- Cocoa powder – Gives the deep brown color and nice chocolate taste. I used Weikfield here but any brand you have at home works fine.
- Powdered sugar – Sweetens the dough evenly and mixes without any lumps. If you are skipping glaze you can add a bit more sugar.
- Cooking oil – I have used a neutral flavored oil which keeps the cookies light and soft inside. Butter can be used too for a richer flavor.
- Milk – Helps to bring the dough together and gives a slight softness. Almond milk can also be used for a small flavor change.
- Baking soda – Makes the cookies light and helps them not turn hard after baking.
- Icing sugar – This is for the glaze and makes it smooth and sweet without grainy feel.
- Cocoa powder (for glaze) – Gives the glaze a mild chocolate flavor without making it very heavy.
- Color sprinklers – Just for decoration and to make the cookies look nice. You can replace with chopped nuts if you like.

2.Measure cocoa powder and add it to the mixing bowl. Whisk it well.

3.Then add cooking oil and milk.

4.Mix well to form a smooth dough. Do not knead it, just bring it together with your finger tips. You can pinch small balls slightly flatten else roll out to â…› inch thickness and cut using cookie cutter. I used my circle and square cutters. Lay butter paper or baking sheet on the baking tray. Preheat oven at 180 deg C for 10 minutes. Bake in preheated oven for 10-12 minutes. Cool down completely.

5.Take icing sugar, coco powder in a pan, add water.

6.Heat it up and keep mixing till a runny sauce consistency is reached. Cool down. Then dip each cookie in the glaze.

7.Like this and place it in butter paper. Else spoon the glaze and pour over each cookie. Sprinkle  color sprinklers. Let it to dry.

Keeps well for about 2 weeks in room temperature itself!

Expert Tips
- Spacing the cookies – I always keep enough space between each cookie while baking as they spread a bit. If you keep them too close they might stick together and shape will not be nice.
- Glaze options – You can make the glaze with melted chocolate also instead of cocoa powder if you like it more rich. Just melt it slowly so it stays smooth and shiny.
- Sugar adjustment – I use less sugar when I am adding glaze. But if you are making plain chocolate cookies then add little more sugar so taste will be balanced.
- Baking time – I usually bake just till the edges start to set around 10 to 12 minutes. They look soft when you take out but they will become crisp after cooling.
- Cookie cutters – Small cutters give more cookies and they bake quick also. You can shape by hand too if you want a more homely look.
Serving and Storage
Serve Chocolate Glaze Cookies with tea or coffee or even with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a nice dessert. They also go well as a small snack for kids in the evenings. Keep them stored in a airtight box at room temperature and they stay good for up to a week. If the weather is too hot you can keep in fridge but make sure to bring to room temperature before eating so the texture is good.
