Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday clarified that Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot had been invited to take part in a function organised to felicitate the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) team members on the steps of the Vidhana Soudha on June 4.
Speaking to reporters at Gauribidanur in Chickballapur district, the Chief Minister said the Governor did not attend the function on his own, as suggested by a section of the media, but he had been invited for the function.
“K. Govindaraju, MLC, called Mr. Gehlot over the phone, and then he told me to speak to the Governor,” the Chief Minister said. “The entire function ended in 20 minutes.”
Speaking to reporters a few days ago, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar had said he was not aware as to who invited Mr. Gehlot to take part in the function.
The Governor took part in the felicitation ceremony along with Mr. Siddaramaiah, Mr. Shivakumar, and a host of Ministers, including G. Parameshwara, B.Z. Zameer Khan and M.C. Sudhakar, among others.
