Andhra Pradesh has reported two new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, both from NTR district, according to information received from Special Chief Secretary, Health, M.T. Krishna Babu.

While reports of a 64-year-old man from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district testing positive emerged, the same was not updated in the overall State COVID report as of 9 p.m. The caseload in the State stands at four, including the Konaseema case.

The 23-year-old woman from Pithapuram Colony in Visakhapatnam, who had tested positive on May 22, recovered, while the two persons from NTR district were in home isolation.

From May 1 to 24, a total of 134 RTPCR tests had been conducted — 59 in Visakhapatnam, 67 in Kakinada district and 8 in NTR district.

Meanwhile, the Health Department has instructed the secondary and tertiary hospitals in the State to keep isolation wards, oxygen cylinders, ventilators, and laboratory facilities, PPE kits, N95 masks, triple layer masks and rapid kits ready. All DMHOs have been instructed to conduct surveillance for COVID-like symptoms.

In Vijayawada, a 10-bed isolation ward, equipped with oxygen supply and ventilators, was set up on Thursday. There is no COVID patient at present.

People have been advised to wear masks and follow hand-washing etiquette.
