A group of self-styled cow vigilantes attacked a driver and a trader transporting buffaloes from Bibinagar to Hyderabad on Tuesday. (May 20, 2025). The assault took place near the Lalaguda traffic signal under Chilkalguda limits, according to a police official.
Led by a person named Vishal, said to be the head of a group of cow vigilantes, the men intercepted the pickup truck, dragged the driver, and the trader out, and thrashed them. They then took the two to the Chilkalguda police station. The police seized the buffaloes and sent them to a cattle holding facility.
Later in the night, AIMIM MLC Mirza Rahmath Baig and party workers reached the station and staged a protest. By around 2 a.m., nearly 100 supporters had gathered, demanding that police register a case against the vigilantes.
As of now, no case has been filed. Police said they are conducting a preliminary inquiry into the incident. Mr. Baig demanded arrest of Vishal and his associates for attempt to murder.
