The Jonas Brothers kicked off their massive 20th anniversary tour with a blast from the Disney Channel past – and fans at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey weren’t ready for the surprise.

On Sunday, Aug. 10, Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas turned their JONAS20 opener into a full-on nostalgia trip, bringing Demi Lovato out for a Camp Rock reunion performance that sent the crowd into a frenzy.

Joe, now 35, took a moment mid-set to channel his 2008 alter ego Shane Gray, singing “Gotta Find You” before introducing Lovato, 32, who played Mitchie Torres in the hit Disney movie. The two, who briefly dated in real life back in 2010, performed “This Is Me” and “Wouldn’t Change a Thing” together for the first time in almost a decade – or maybe even longer, depending on which of them you ask. Joe told the crowd it had been “almost 10 years,” but Lovato laughed and said it might have been more.

Kevin and Nick, who also starred in Camp Rock as Shane’s bandmates Jason and Nate, took a moment to reminisce. Nick recalled how the movie originally was meant to feature only Joe, but their dad managed to get all three brothers involved. “I think it’s time we walk down this memory lane to celebrate a little movie called Camp Rock,” Nick told the audience before the duet.

Lovato’s husband, Jordan “Jutes” Lutes, 34, proudly documented the moment on Instagram, sharing a video of Demi’s stage entrance with the caption, “Couldn’t be more proud… I love u sooo much baby.” Demi and Joe also leaned into the nostalgia online, posting a lip-sync video of “Wouldn’t Change a Thing” and even recreating Disney star Debby Ryan’s famous “Sat Down with the President of Disney Channel” bit for their followers. Demi captioned one clip, “For the history books @joejonas.”

But the surprises didn’t stop there. Later in the show, the Jonas Brothers were joined on stage by their parents Kevin Jonas Sr. and Denise Jonas, their younger brother Frankie, 24, as well as Kevin’s wife Danielle and the couple’s daughters, Valentina, 8, and Alena, 11. Together, they performed the band’s 2007 ballad “When You Look Me in the Eyes,” making the night feel more like a family celebration than just another tour stop.

Ahead of the big kickoff, the brothers spoke about the challenge of building a setlist for such a milestone tour during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Kevin admitted, “There’s so much music to play… but it’s so fun because we get to take breaks and admire each other’s work at the same time.” Joe, in true Joe fashion, added, “And pee breaks mostly.”

Nick reflected on just how surreal 20 years in the business feels, saying, “It’s hard to believe. It feels like it flew by.” He said trying to capture two decades of career highlights in one show was “basically impossible,” but promised the JONAS20 set captures the songs and moments that matter most to them. “We’ve got some amazing special guests lined up and I just can’t wait,” Nick teased.

The tour follows the release of their latest studio album, Greetings from Your Hometown, and if opening night is any indication, it’s going to be a mix of hits, surprises, and maybe a few more unannounced reunions before it’s over. For longtime fans, seeing Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato back on stage singing Camp Rock classics wasn’t just a nostalgia hit – it was pure Disney Channel history coming to life.
