Tiffany Haddish might’ve just dropped the biggest surprise of the year, or she’s trolling all of us.
The comedian and actress had everyone on Instagram doing a double take after she posted a photo holding a baby with her longtime friend Jason Lee, founder of Hollywood Unlocked. The pair posed with a stroller and a smiling baby, captioning the shot: “Cats out of the bag ❤️.” And that was it, no follow-up, no clarification, just one cryptic post that immediately sent fans into a spiral.
Haddish, 45, looked cozy in the photo, cradling the baby, who wore a blue headband and fresh baby-sized Nikes. Lee stood beside her, resting a hand on the stroller, flashing a proud smile. Of course, fans and even celebs jumped in the comments section immediately. “What does this mean?” asked actress Tasha Smith. Another follower chimed in, “What is the cat because I just see you and Tiff with someone baby.” And someone else straight-up celebrated, writing, “Yall actually did ittttt😍😍 I remember it being talked about.”
So where did this all come from? It’s not as random as it seems. Back in November 2024, Haddish appeared on Lee’s Hollywood Unlocked podcast, where they openly discussed the idea of having a baby together as friends. “You did promise me you would give me a kid,” Lee told her during the episode, even saying Cardi B had already agreed to be the godmother. Haddish responded, “Yeah. I wanted to talk to you about the cost… because I said I wanted to do it the old fashioned way. You said no.”
The two clearly weren’t joking. But now fans are left wondering, was this post the result of that convo? Did they go through with it? Is it adoption? Surrogacy? Co-parenting? Borrowed baby for the ‘Gram? Nobody knows, because Haddish isn’t answering comments and hasn’t said a word more on her Instagram or Stories.
Still, this isn’t the first time Haddish has spoken about becoming a mom. In a 2022 interview with E!’s Daily Pop, she shared that a trip to Eritrea had strengthened her desire to adopt. “People were trying to give me their kids,” she said, laughing. “I was like, ‘Hold up now, I gotta get the paperwork right now.’” Back in 2021, she even revealed she’d been taking parenting classes and wanted to adopt a child around 5 to 7 years old, old enough to talk and be potty trained, as she put it.
And if you thought surrogacy was an option, Haddish cleared that up too. “I don’t wanna pay nobody to carry my baby,” she said, explaining she didn’t want to go through the injections or IVF process. In a candid moment, she also shared that at 21, she donated several of her eggs when she was strapped for cash. “So who knows, I might got some kids out here in these streets,” she joked.
So here we are. A baby in a photo. A cryptic caption. A past filled with real talks about parenthood. And no confirmation yet. Whether Tiffany Haddish actually welcomed a baby or just gave us the ultimate troll post, one thing’s for sure, she knows how to keep the internet talking.
