Disney fans are about to raise their glasses in true pirate style.

Walt Disney World Resort is preparing to open its brand-new Pirates of the Caribbean-inspired pub, The Beak and Barrel, inside Magic Kingdom park. Although the official grand opening is set for August 29, an early look inside reveals one of the most immersive dining and drinking experiences the park has ever created.

The new tavern draws inspiration from Disney’s iconic Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, a ride that has been a cornerstone of Magic Kingdom since its debut in 1973. With decades of lore to pull from, Disney Imagineers leaned into the attraction’s rich storytelling to bring this space to life.

“When you’re dealing with a classic attraction and a classic story like Pirates of the Caribbean, people are going to be excited about it,” explained Mallory Ledet, Walt Disney World’s public relations manager. “That well of storytelling that the Imagineering team can draw upon is incredibly inspiring. You feel the weight of that history and the beloved story on your shoulders. I think they knocked it out of the park.”

Inside The Beak and Barrel

Once guests enter, they’ll step into a hall known as The Mess, a space once used by Spanish soldiers before being claimed and repurposed by a crafty pirate crew. The room is filled with long wooden tables and nautical touches, including a massive chandelier fashioned from a candle-covered anchor. Detailed Mermaid Windows, salvaged from a notorious pirate shipwreck, add an extra layer of atmosphere.

Nearby sits one of the pub’s most striking features: a skull-shaped bar lined with rare bottles. Perched high above the counter is Rummy, a feathered animatronic bird who serves as the tavern’s quartermaster. Rummy tells jokes, sings songs, and spins tales to keep the crowd entertained. Disney fans may notice he looks nearly identical to the Barker Bird, who once greeted riders at the original Pirates of the Caribbean attraction entrance before “flying the coop” years ago.

For those seeking something a little more elegant, there’s the Captains’ Quarters. This area once belonged to a Spanish Comandante and now offers an upscale pirate hideout. Guests can admire the grand fireplace, ornate drapery, and impressive paintings that decorate the walls. Above the mantel, miniature ships rest inside glass bottles, while four large carved-wood booths line the room, giving groups a comfortable spot to dine in style.

Another hidden corner is the Mapmaker’s Room, a treasure trove for explorers at heart. Rolled maps, parchment, spilled ink, and scattered tools cover the space, while a giant map of the pirating world dominates the wall, inviting guests to imagine their next voyage.

Food, Drinks, and Experience

Disney has also teased some of the items on the menu, which promise a mix of tropical-inspired drinks and ocean-themed small plates. Although the park has not revealed the full food and beverage list, early previews suggest a focus on specialty cocktails, rum-based concoctions, and shareable bites, all fitting the pirate theme.

Reservations are required for The Beak and Barrel, and Disney has added some important details for visitors to note. Each party will have a 45-minute limit inside, ensuring more guests get the chance to experience the new location. Guests over the age of 21 must show a valid photo ID to order alcoholic beverages, and each visitor is limited to two drinks maximum.

A Long-Awaited Addition

Disney first announced the tavern back in September 2023, sparking excitement among parkgoers who have long asked for more themed dining experiences connected to classic rides. Now, nearly two years later, The Beak and Barrel is finally ready to welcome its first patrons.

By combining atmospheric design, beloved characters, and a taste of swashbuckling adventure, the pub is expected to become one of the most popular new dining experiences at Disney World in 2025. Whether fans are visiting for the detailed decor, the immersive storytelling, or a pirate-worthy drink, The Beak and Barrel is set to bring new life to Magic Kingdom’s beloved Pirates of the Caribbean legacy.
