WWE are going all in on ‘The Maverick’ Logan Paul.

The YouTuber-turned-wrestler took on Jey Uso in the closing match of Saturday Night’s Main Event, fighting for a chance to win the World Heavyweight Championship.

While the defending champion, who won the belt at WrestleMania 41, dominated early, the match soon descended into chaos.

Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena, who had been victorious against R-Truth in his own bout earlier on in the night, attacked the official and attempted to ‘ruin wrestling’ by helping Paul win the title.

That led to Cody Rhodes making his return, and he came running to the ring for the first time since WrestleMania to fight off Cena.

Uso then ended the match with a brutal Spear and Uso Splash combo.

While Paul failed to capture the world heavyweight title, it seems he will be sticking around in the main event picture.

After fighting off Cena and helping Uso to his feet, Rhodes took a moment to run down the historic 17-time champion on the mic, suggesting he has now ‘ruined enough’ of wrestling.

“I’m sorry that the John Cena farewell tour rode right through Rhodes Country,” he shouted.

“But I’m back, and I’m ready to fight.”

Rhodes then took it upon himself to announce a tag-team match for next month’s Money in the Bank event — Cena and Paul vs himself and Uso.

By inserting ‘The Maverick’ into the match, WWE have made it clear they are all in on the star.

And it’s fair to say fans are far from happy, with some taking to social media to vent their frustration about the direction the company is going.

“Why? This was definitely not needed… WWE is a lot better without him and that is nothing except facts,” one wrote of Paul, after Rhodes announced the tag match.

“If they add Travis Scott I’m done with this company. Keep this a 2v2 and that’s it,” another replied, urging WWE to keep Travis Scott away from the match amid reports he could feature at Money in the Bank.

“Who asked for this?” a third questioned.

“John Cena’s last matches ever are being wasted on a five-minute R-Truth match and a tag match with Logan Paul on pay-per-view,” a fourth fumed.

While there is no doubt Paul has shown he is a talented in-ring performer since arriving in WWE, fans are far from happy about the idea of him featuring alongside Cena on his retirement tour.

Some also spotted an awkward moment during his match against Uso on Saturday.

Paul botched one of his punches, missing his opponent by a clear distance.

“Logan Paul with the fake punch,” one person, who shared the video online, wrote.

Others joked that Paul was ‘punching the wind’ and suggested he was a ‘pretend boxer’.

“This match is satire,” another fan simply concluded.

Whether fans like it or not, it seems they will be seeing plenty more of Paul in the main event scene moving forward.
