Eric Stonestreet, who is most famous for playing lovable Cameron Tucker on Modern Family, has finally wed longtime girlfriend Lindsay Schweitzer.

The duo said “I do” on September 8 at their Kansas City, Missouri dream home, which is a celebration they’ve been looking forward to since meeting almost a decade ago.

The romantic ceremony was all the more special for the couple, as they picked the date since it is between their birthdays. Their birthday, September 9, followed the same day, and Stonestreet broke the news on Instagram with a cheeky caption: “It’s my birthday and guess what I got.” The photos were of the actor dressed to impress in a navy blue blazer and blue tie, while Schweitzer dazzled in a satin dress with a crystal belt detail.

The ceremony was packed with personal flourishes, from their first dance in front of live acoustic performers. Of course, Stonestreet’s Modern Family “husband” Jesse Tyler Ferguson wished them well, teasing, “Of all second marriages, this one is my favorite! I love you both!” Ferguson’s actual husband Justin Mikita and actress Octavia Spencer sent their best as well.

Stonestreet and Schweitzer’s romance started last June 2017, when they met at the Big Slick charity weekend in Kansas City. It wasn’t until August of the same year that news of their romance came out, and Stonestreet spoke about how soothing Schweitzer was for his usually high-wired personality. The actor even made light of his pediatric nurse girlfriend during The Ellen DeGeneres Show, claiming that she was a perfect fit for a self-declared hypochondriac.

Stonestreet proposed in August 2021, after being together for over five years. The proposal was one he described as spontaneous and intimate, explaining that it wasn’t about doing something big but about making a special moment especially for the two of them.

When speaking to PEOPLE last year, Stonestreet revealed the couple’s plan to build a house specifically to host their wedding, calling it the perfect foundation for their future together. Now, that dream has officially come true.

The actor, who also hosted Fox game show Domino Masters, has not only credited Schweitzer as a partner but also as an amazing mom to her two kids. “She’s just a good person and a great mom. I kid that she’s uniquely qualified to be my fiancée because she can put up with me,” he once stated.

Now that their Kansas City wedding is done, Eric Stonestreet and Lindsay Schweitzer start anew as husband and wife, engulfed in love, laughter, and the flawless surroundings they created.
