Dylan Dreyer just dropped a personal bombshell, and fans are reeling.
The beloved Today show meteorologist and third-hour co-anchor confirmed that she and husband Brian Fichera have quietly separated after 12 years of marriage. In a heartfelt Instagram post shared on July 18, Dylan opened up about their decision, writing, “For many years, I have shared my family with you all – the highs and lows, the ups and downs, and all of the blessings and beautiful memories in between.”
She didn’t just stop at nostalgia. She got real, saying, “A few months ago, Brian and I made the decision to separate.” The 43-year-old mom of three added that she’s thankful for all the love and support from viewers and fans over the years. It’s clear this wasn’t a snap decision, they’ve had some time to process and are approaching it with maturity and mutual respect.
Dylan Dreyer and Brian Fichera have built quite a life together. The couple first met at WHDH, NBC’s Boston affiliate, where she worked as a meteorologist and he was an in-studio technician. That workplace connection grew into a romance, leading to their 2012 wedding and eventually three adorable kids: Calvin (8), Oliver (5), and Rusty (3). They’re keeping it together for their boys too. “We began as friends, and we will remain the closest of friends,” she wrote. “Most importantly, we will continue to co-parent our three wonderful boys together with nothing but love and respect for one another.”
According to a source close to the couple, there’s no bad blood. “Dylan and Brian remain best friends, and they are committed to coparenting and putting their three children first.” It’s not just PR talk either, the couple spent the Fourth of July together as a family, enjoying the Macy’s fireworks special that Dylan hosts for NBC. She even posted happy snaps of the outing.
And in true Dylan-and-Brian fashion, they’re keeping up the activities they’ve always loved together. Brian recently joined her at the American Century Golf Championships in Lake Tahoe, as her caddy, no less. If that’s not friendly ex energy, what is? Golf has always been their thing. Brian bought her first set of clubs back when they started dating, and Dylan’s previously said, “Golf is the thing we do together. We have a couple of drinks, we laugh.”
It’s not often you see this kind of honesty and grace during a breakup, especially in the public eye. Dylan’s fans know she keeps it real on air, and she’s doing the same in her personal life. The couple’s timeline, starting in Boston, climbing their way through NBC, becoming parents to three boys, and now respectfully parting ways, feels like a true modern love story with a very grown-up ending.
While breakups are never easy, Dylan and Brian are doing it their way. No drama, no mess, just love, growth, and a promise to put their kids first. That’s something worth admiring.
