Eddy D’Amato, an Italian DJ and producer, has been making waves in the Techno scene with his high-energy, detail-oriented sound. As he gains momentum with notable albums, fascinating collaborations, and the establishment of his own label, we spoke with Eddy about the inspirations for his work, which range from historical rock idols and cinematic moments to personal ambition and creative growth.

T.H.E – Hi Eddy! How’s everything going for you lately?

Eddy D’Amato – Things are going great! I’ve got a few exciting things in the pipeline right now – some important brand collaborations with Native Instruments and Focusrite, a couple of releases that really mean a lot to me, and most importantly, I’m in the middle of building my own label. So yeah, busy – but the good kind of busy.

T.H.E – Who were the artists that really shaped your early direction in Techno?

Eddy D’Amato – Definitely Victor Ruiz and Adam Beyer. Both of them have had a huge influence on me – not just with their sound, but in how they’ve built and managed their careers. They’ve each paved the way in different ways, and I’ve always looked up to that.

T.H.E – Your sound really leans into the high-impact energy side of Techno. What keeps you drawn to that approach?

Eddy D’Amato – It’s the raw energy – it grabs you. When I’m in the studio producing, I get fully immersed in it. And when people are on the dancefloor, they feel it too. That connection between energy and emotion is everything for me.

T.H.E – Do you ever find creative inspiration outside of the electronic world?

Eddy D’Amato – Absolutely. One of my biggest influences is KISS. I’ve loved them forever. What really sticks with me is their entire identity – not just the music, but the performance, the visuals, the attitude. That larger-than-life style definitely shows up in how I approach breakdowns or drops in my music. Sometimes I’ll literally ask myself, “Would this hit like a KISS moment on stage?”

T.H.E – That’s unexpected – but makes total sense. Do movies or visual arts influence your work too?

Eddy D’Amato – Totally. I’m a huge movie fan. Sometimes a single scene or even a piece of dialogue can spark an idea. I’ll pause a film mid-way just to jump into my DAW and start working on something. My track “Vision,” for example, was directly inspired by Avengers: Age of Ultron. There’s a sample in there from that movie that kicked off the entire idea for the track. It’s not just about the sounds – I’m thinking about atmosphere, drama, emotion… and cinema brings all that.

T.H.E – Have your influences changed over time, now that you’ve grown as an artist?

Eddy D’Amato – Definitely. At first, I was chasing sounds and trying to mirror what I admired. But now, I’ve found my voice. These days, inspiration comes more from my own life – what I’m going through, what I’m feeling. That shift has helped me stop mimicking and start creating from a more personal place. It’s less about looking out, and more about looking in.

T.H.E – Is there one album or track that still sticks with you creatively?

Eddy D’Amato – Without a doubt – Random Access Memories by Daft Punk. When that came out in 2013, it hit me hard. It wasn’t just about the music, it was about vision. That album proved Electronic Music could be timeless and cultural. It still gives me chills. I go back to it often, especially when I need to remind myself why I’m doing this.

T.H.E – How do you manage the balance between drawing inspiration from others and staying true to your own artistic identity?

Eddy D’Amato – It all starts with clarity – knowing who I am and what I want to say. I stay open to influences, of course, but I’m very conscious about filtering them through my own lens. I’m not here to copy. I’m here to create something that reflects my experience and emotions. I think the moment you know your purpose, you stop worrying about trends and start trusting your instincts more.

T.H.E – Do your personal emotions or day-to-day life affect the music you create?

Eddy D’Amato – All the time. If I’m not emotionally in the right place, I can’t work. Music for me is very emotional – it’s not something I can just “switch on.” I’ve learned how important it is to protect my space and find balance. Every track I make carries something from my life. That’s what gives it depth.

T.H.E – And what’s influencing you right now – any new sounds or artists in rotation?

Eddy D’Amato – Honestly? My own ambition. I have a very clear picture of the kind of artist I want to become, and that vision is pushing me harder than anything else right now. Every decision I’m making, every track I’m producing, it’s all aligned with where I see myself going next.

As Eddy D’Amato gears up for more releases, collaborations, and the launch of his own label, one thing is clear: he’s carving out his space in Techno on his own terms – driven by emotion, ambition, and a real love for the craft.
