All India Trinamool Congress’ Rajya Sabha M.P., Derek O Brien, urged the student community, who are a part of All India Catholic University Federation, to learn about the past of the movement and added that the battle for university students begins with fighting misinformation from Whatsapp university with facts.

Speaking at concluding ceremony of AICUF centenary and sixth national convention, Mr. O’ Brien, said that there are 54000 education institutions run by Christian community. “70% of the boys and girls who go to these Christian educational institutions are non-Christians. In other words, they are Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Sikhs and atheists. Seven crore boys and girls go these institutions and 70% of them are non-Christians. What does this mean? This is the kind of material you need,” he said.

Mr. O’Brien said that Jesuit education has always been for the ‘greater good’ and social justice. He also encouraged young students to ask questions and answered them though he avoided answering pointed questions on politics. He also selected five students who will be taken to New Delhi to witness the monsoon session of the Parliament.
