Real Madrid are the current favourites to sign German star playmaker Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

Real Madrid are believed to be leading the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen starlet Florian Wirtz.
The Germany international initially signed for the German outfit from Cologne in January 2020 as a 16-year-old, and has gone to make 197 appearances, scoring 57 goals and bagging 65 assists for the club, including 31 goal contributions in 45 games this season.
The now 22-year-old played a huge part in last season’s team who famous went undefeated in all domestic competitions all season, winning the league (for the first time in the club’s history) and cup double and reaching the final of the Europa League, as well as winning the German Supercup at the start of the current campaign.
It’s been seemingly all but confirmed that the Bayer Leverkusen manager of the last three seasons, Xabi Alonso, will be the new man to take over at Real Madrid following Carlo Ancelotti’s departure from the Bernabeu, and it’s become apparent that the Spaniard will be keen to bring Wirtz along to the Spanish capital with him.
Alonso will be taking over a Real Madrid side who finished who have gone trophyless in La Liga, Champions League and the Copa del Rey this season, so will be wanting to stamp his authority on the squad to get them back ahead of a Barcelona side who won the domestic treble this season.

Manchester City had also previously been linked with the Germany international ahead of the summer transfer window but are believed to have been put off by the price, with their odds now drifting to 16/1, the same as the likes of Chelsea and a move to Serie A and Saudi.
