Four persons, including an elderly couple, have died on the spot, and a 34-year-old man survived with severe injuries after a car, in which the five persons were travelling, was hit by a lorry near Autonagar on the national highway on the outskirts of Rajamahendravaram on Monday.
The lorry hit the car while it was entering the national highway at around 9.45 a.m. on Monday. According to Rajanagaram police, the deceased have been identified as a couple, 60-year-old Uppaluri Prasad and his 56-year-old wife Leelavathi and 34-year-old Lakkamsani Bindu of Kovvuru town in East Godavari district.
Another deceased has been identified as 75-year-old Immanni Veera Venkata Satyavathi of Markondapadu village in Chagallu Mandal in East Godavari district.
Lakkamsani Suresh, 34, survived with severe injuries and was shifted to a private hospital in Rajamahendravaram City. The police registered a case and the investigation is on.
