It wasn’t the Irishman’s best moment.
Shane Lowry may want to have this one back during the second round of the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Club.

He lost his cool on hole No. 8 after making bogey.
It started when he was not granted relief for an embedded ball despite arguing with officials.
He argued furiously, pleading that he should have been given relief, but to no avail and ended up shanking.
He proceeded to take a huge chunk out of the fairway with his iron in frustration.
Lowry then missed a putt for par.
He angrily flipped off the hole after making bogey.
“Well, at least he made a birdie, with his right hand,” the announcer joked.
Jhonattan Vegas remains atop the leaderboard at 8 under, while Lowry is facing a battle to make the cut.
There is still a long way to go, but things aren’t looking great for the Irishman.
Especially after his mini tirade on hole No. 8.

As of now, it looks like the major is Vegas’ to lose.
And if he holds on, it would be a remarkable story.
The 40-year-old Venezuelan has never won a major championship in his career.
This would be his first.
“My dad grew up near a golf course and he kind of grew up kiting at that place as a little kid,” he said after shooting seven under in his opening round.
“When he had us, we grew up near another golf course owned by the old companies and we had access.
“I mean, obviously Venezuelans were not known for being golfers.
“As a kid, I would hit anything that I could find, you know, rocks, broomstick, everything.
“I would grab anything that I could swing and I would do it.
“I felt like I was a good athlete as a young kid, so that’s kind of how things started.
“Just keep dreaming, right? That’s all you can tell yourself if you had to go back. Keep dreaming because that’s the only thing that can keep you going.
“I’ve been doing this long enough and I’ve had some ups and some downs.
“And, obviously, believing and dreaming is what keeps you going.
“I have been blessed and here I am.”
Here he is. Now let’s see if he can finish the job.
