A Division Bench of the Kerala High Court on Monday directed the police officer probing the murder of a girl in Kasaragod to meet her parents and listen to their complaint that, in addition to the arrested accused, Biju Paulose, another person was involved in the case.
The Crime Branch had probed the disappearance of the girl 14 years ago on a High Court directive.

The Bench comprising Justice Devan Ramachandran and Justice M.B. Snehalatha had issued the directive on a habeas corpus petition filed by the girl’s mother in 2024. When the petition came up for hearing on Monday, the government pleader submitted that Biju had been arrested and remanded in judicial custody till May 31.
The court observed that though there had been some delay, it was a matter of gratification that steps had been taken to probe the case.
The court noted that the plight of the mother who had been waiting for her daughter ever since June 6, 2010, when she was first reported missing, certainly bears heavily on it. It was the duty of the system to answer her. During the hearing, the counsel for the mother submitted that her husband had reasonable suspicion regarding the involvement of another person. The court asked the Crime Branch to intimate it in this regard on the next posting date.
