Rapper GloRilla was hit with felony drug charges after an unexpected twist in a late-night burglary call at her Atlanta home.
The 24-year-old rapper, whose real name is Gloria Hallelujah Woods, was arrested after Forsyth County deputies responded to a reported break-in around 1:30am Saturday. GloRilla wasn’t even in Georgia at the time, she was in Indianapolis preparing to perform at the WNBA All-Star Game later that evening.
According to police, three suspects broke into the home while Woods was away, but they were scared off when someone inside the property fired at them. None of the would-be burglars were injured, but things took a turn when deputies at the scene smelled marijuana during their investigation. That’s when they called in a drug task force, who searched the house and found a “significant amount of marijuana” stashed in a bedroom closet.
That discovery led to GloRilla being charged with felony possession of marijuana and a controlled substance. Even though she wasn’t there when the drugs were found, the property belongs to her. She voluntarily surrendered to authorities on Tuesday and was later released after posting a $22,260 bond.
Sheriff Ron Freeman told WSB-TV, “The homeowner is a victim of a serious crime, and we are committed to bringing the suspects to justice. At the same time, we must continue to uphold and enforce the law in all aspects of this case.” As of now, police haven’t made any arrests in connection with the burglary.
Born and raised in Memphis, GloRilla skyrocketed to fame in 2022 with her breakout hit “FNF (Let’s Go),” which earned a Grammy nomination and put her name on the map. Since then, she’s become one of hip-hop’s fastest-rising stars, and her 2024 debut album Glorious continued that momentum with two more Grammy nods for the single “Yeah Glo!”
